Follow The Child

Little Legs of Lode is a privately owned nursery school situated in Fassage Hall in the beautiful village of Lode. We opened in January 2011 and since then our nursery has been expanding with new families joining us throughout the year.

We follow the Montessori method of teaching and believe that personal, social and emotional development is the foundation for a happy and secure child. A high staff ratio with attentive teachers ensures that each child is fully supported and given time to accomplish skills and develop in confidence and independence.

We offer spaces for two year old children until school age.  Early Years Funding is available for three and four year olds. . Some two year old children are eligible for free child care. Please telephone Education Welfare Benefits

As early years teachers we are committed to providing your child with a secure, safe and homely environment where each child can learn and develop at their own pace.  We understand that parents are the first educators of their children and that each child who comes to us has their own unique personality and learning experiences. We nurture each child’s individuality and provide a stimulating, creative environment where children can play, explore and learn.
Free flow play between indoors and outdoors ensures that each child is free to develop skills and learn in a variety of ways.

Staff are encouraged to further their own learning experiences through training and support as everyone at Little Legs of Lode is encouraged to reach their full potential.

Each morning we have a café style healthy snack area, free flow play, songs, music and movement, story time and a daily visit to the park, which is next to the hall.  Our Montessori method
of teaching blends with the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage.
About Montessori

Maria Montessori was the first female doctor in Italy.  She was also a humanitarian, philosopher and educator.  Through working with people with special needs, and children from the slums in Italy, she devised a method of education with astounding results.  She was a pioneer in early years education and her influences have been adapted in all areas of early years education.  Today there are Montessori nurseries and schools throughout the world and her enduring method of teaching lives on and is a testament to her philosophy.
